Well ... sooner or later it had to happen and you know it!
With this illustration of the first Disney Princess, Snow White, concluded (for now) my "The Royal Jewels".
"Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" was the first animated feature film in history and the first appearance of the world famous Disney Princesses. As you may already know or Perhaps you have guessed, the story of Snow White is set in Germany, home of the Brothers Grimm (their creators).
What you might not all you may know is that, according to recent research, Snow White was a real person!
Thanks to the research of the historian of Lohr am Main, Dr. Karlheinz Bartels, on the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the picturesque town on the banks of the River Main in Franconia German can feel proud to have been born in 1725, to Maria Sophia Margaretha Catharina von Erthal, real character who inspired the literary Snow White. Much evidence and points of connection with the characteristics of Lohr and tested around since 1986, this peculiarity of the famous tale by the Brothers Grimm, which makes it stand out against the majority of children's stories.
The father of the girl who, for various reasons, in fiction became Snow White was Philipp Christoph von Erthal, between 1719 and 1748, Constable Kurmainz territory in Lohr. By his diplomatic skills, traveled frequently sent on special assignments as a sort of minister of foreign affairs of the Duchy. Con esta ilustración de la primera princesa Disney, Blanca Nieves, concluyo (por el momento) mi serie de "Las Joyas Reales".
"Blanca Nieves y los Siete Enanitos" fue el primer largometrage animado de la historia y la primera aparición de las mundialmente conocidas Princesas Disney. Como muchos ya sabréis o quizá hayais deducido, la historia de Blanca Nieves transcurre en Alemania, hogar de los Hermanos Grimm (sus creadores).
Lo que quizá no todos sepais es que, según recientes investigaciones, Blanca Nieves fue un personaje real!
Gracias a la investigación del historiador de Lohr am Main, Dr. Karlheinz Bartels, sobre el cuento de Blancanieves y los Siete Enanitos, la pintoresca localidad, a orillas del río Meno, en la Franconia alemana, puede sentirse orgullosa de haber visto nacer, en 1725, a Maria Sophia Margaretha Catharina von Erthal, personaje real que inspiró el literario de Blancanieves. También se han comprobado las referencias locales en el área de Lohr. El “bosque virgen” en el cual fue expuesta Blancanieves, era naturalmente el Spessart. En la actualidad, Lohr, incluso, recibe el nombre de “la Puerta del Spessart”. El camino de huida de Blancanieves “sobre las siete montañas” era el Höhenweg, mencionado ya en el siglo XIV – la llamada “Wieser Straße”. Desde Lohr, a través de este trayecto, por las siete montañas del Spessart, se podía alcanzar el pequeño reino “de los siete enanitos”.
Asimismo “los siete enanitos que picaban y cavaban en busca de mineral”, eran mineros de talla pequeña o, más probáblemente, niños que trabajaban en las minas de Bieber. Alrededor de 1750 picaban allí unos 500 mineros en busca de plata y cobre.
Respecto a “la manzana envenenada”, la investigación de Bartels ha descubierto, citando bibliografía competente en la cual se describe el veneno, que la mitad de la manzana fue sumergida por la malvada madrastra en zumo de belladona, fruto que se encuentra también en el Spessart. Sus bayas contienen la Atropa Belladona utilizada, incluso a día de hoy, en medicina. Su narcótico produjo en Blancanieves una rigidez tal como si hubiera fallecido.
El “sarcófago transparente de cristal” y las “zapatillas de hierro”, con las cuales, en castigo, “la madrastra debía bailar hasta caer muerta en la tierra”, se producían habitualmente en la Manufactura de vidrio, el primero, y por herreros, gracias a los minerales de hierro maleables del Spessart.
Debido a las cualidades de Maria Sophia, la población de Lohr la había convertido en una especie de hada. El cronista de la familia Erthal, M.B. Kittel, describía a Maria Sophia como una joven noble y llena de virtudes, “un ángel caritativo y bondadoso”, “activo contra la pobreza y la indigencia” que demostraba “su amabilidad personal”. Para el “imaginario colectivo” de la población de Lohr y el Spessart, la niña de los Erthal representaba la imagen ideal de la hija de un Rey.
Otro hecho que hacía que el pueblo sintiese simpatía hacia Maria Sophia, a la vez que añadía crueldad al comportamiento de su madrastra, era la ceguera parcial que María Sophia padecía desde niña y que se debía a las secuelas de la varicela.
Estos hechos que, a lo largo de la historia no ocurren con frecuencia, debieron llegar a oídos de los hermanos Grimm que vivían cerca, en Steinau. Así, pocos años después de la muerte de Maria Sophia siguió la redacción y, al final de 1812, la primera publicación del cuento de Blancanieves y los siete enanitos.
En fin, con la primera princesa Disney doy por cerrada la serie "Joyas Reales" hasta que las nuevas incorporaciones (Anna y Elsa de Forzen) se unan al elenco real.
